Urban Upcycling:
Texture Gathering

In the “Urban Upcycling: Texture Gathering” workshop, traces from different surfaces of the city were collected and transferred onto specially produced paper. The paper was made from waste materials sent by a school, turning discarded resources into the starting point of a creative process.

Participants worked with textures taken from walls, pavements, and various surfaces, making the city’s hidden details visible. Through diverse printing and transfer techniques, the memory of these surfaces was transformed into works of art.

The process showed that upcycling is not only about reusing materials, but also about giving them new meaning and purpose. The waste paper from the school became unique works that carried the textures of the urban landscape.

For participants, it was both a physical and mental journey of discovery. Surfaces often overlooked in daily life were reinterpreted through the lens of art.

The resulting works highlighted the aesthetic potential and social connections of upcycling, adding a new layer to the city’s story.
